 Special Event Volunteers

We have several events coming up and need special event volunteers to fill a variety of event related roles such as set-up, tear-down, registration, selling raffle tickets, etc. Do you have a truck and are willing to help get items to/from our special events?

 Playroom Assistants

As a playroom assistant you will use your creativity and work with CASA staff to develop interesting playroom activities for our clients and their siblings. You will be responsible for watching over small groups of children during either a drop-in playroom or a scheduled playroom group.

Mentors
 
Work 1:1 with our clients under the guidance and direction of CASA staff to further develop the skills identified by CASA staff. Perhaps you will take your match into the community, or help them with homework, or support them as they complete a job application. The opportunities are endless. Did you know: parents sometimes need mentors too!

Helping Hands
 
Volunteers help out in a variety of ways throughout CASA, and could include administrative help, field trip supervision, supporting special activities such as crafts or recreation or working on special projects such as installing raised gardens.

 Special Presenters

Everyone has special skills, hobbies or interests. As a special presenter are you willing to share those talents with our organization and clients? Some examples could include (but are not limited to):

  1. career presentations for our clients: you have an awesome job and want to highlight the interesting aspects and discuss the necessary training/education paths, etc.
  2. information sessions for our clients (and/or staff): perhaps you are a specialist interested in sharing information such as; a human resource specialist interested in sharing interview skills, or a dietician who could discuss healthy eating
  3. instructional sessions for our clients (and/or staff): share your recreation or creative talents such as; Tai Chi instructor, crafter, musician, artist or writer willing to teach a class and help our clients express themselves
  4. service provider: perhaps your organization is interested in offering in-kind services to our clients such as haircuts

 Volunteer Interns

Are you considering further education or a career in our field? Our volunteer interns help throughout CASA in a variety of roles outlined above and more! Interns may observe clinical settings such as shadowing a therapist, attending a psycho-educational group or scoring sensory assessments. They may also gain experience in communications and human resource activities. The internship is approximately 100 hours based on your availability and schedule, and is a great fit for those needing volunteer hours to enter a post-secondary program.
